Terms of Service

Consultations and fittings

All consultations and fittings are by private appointment; however, I can travel to you depending on where you are located or arrange a mutually convenient meeting place. With regards to travelling out of the county, a charge of 55p per mile plus expenses will be made to the client. To make the most of our initial consultation, please come with some ideas, dress shape or colour. A picture can be an excellent place to start. We will discuss fabrics, design and recommendations on style. Please allow up to an hour for this meeting.

We do not hold a stock of garments, other than collection samples. Your dress will be created exclusively for you, and there is a minimum ordering time of 16 weeks; however, this may change depending on the time of year.

Once you are happy with the estimate, we require a deposit to secure your order, commence work on your design, pattern construction and fabric sourcing. Your toile or basic lining construction will be made from your measurements for your first fitting. There may be up to 4 fittings where we will ensure you have a perfect fit and you are happy with each stage.

Payment terms

A quoted price will be given and held for 28 days, and a 35% deposit will be required at this time so that work can commence. Once the deposit has been paid, your quote will be fixed, however, if you change the design, add embellishment or change/add more fabric, the total cost will be adjusted. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

A second payment may be made halfway through the process with the balance paid on completion of the garment. If the final payment is made by cheque, we reserve the right to delay delivery/collection until the cheque has cleared and in the event of a late payment we reserve the right to charge interest on the amount outstanding. We will refer unpaid accounts to the County Courts or Commercial Debt Recovery Services. We reserve the right to claim compensation in respect of debt recovery costs, and we reserve the right to withhold all garments, services and copyright covering all works done by us until payment is made.

Garment care

Please take care of your handmade garment; they will be delivered to you or collected by you, hanging in a gown bag. You should keep all garments hanging until they are worn unless otherwise advised. All or most of the fabrics will be silk and will require a specialist dry clean. All couture orders are non-returnable and non-refundable.

If in the unlikely event that you are not happy with your garment, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to resolve any problems. We do not accept any returns on couture garments, all dress sales are final. Returns or exchanges are not accepted due to incorrectly ordered items, change of mind, cancellation of the event or any other reason.

We reserve the right to make changes to our website and its contents without prior notice. We cannot take responsibility for typographical, colour or human error with regards to updated information. In all item descriptions, pictures, links and pricing, we endeavour to be as accurate as possible, concerning information contained in our website.

Client pictures of garments made by Christine Trewinnard may be displayed on our website or on social media, but only with the client's consent. Any images of couture wedding dresses will not be shown until after the client's date of the event. Confidentiality is assured for client information with regards to personal measurements, design detail and all other private correspondence.

Data Protection

The client allows us to keep some details including name, address and contact details on our files for billing and quotation purposes, no information will be passed to any 3rd party without your written consent. All information held is available on request. If you wish us not to retain this information, please inform us. The client's data will be kept in strict accordance with the applicable data protection laws.

Additional services

On the day - We can offer assistance 'on the day' to help you in to your garment. There is a charge for this service of £40 per hour plus mileage and any other expenses incurred.

Alterations

For any garment that needs adjusting to achieve a perfect fit, or for hand-me-down dresses, or even to up-cycle or give a vintage feel. We can accommodate bridesmaids, mother of the bride, brides and all-occasion wear. This service is by appointment only, and payment is upon completion but discussed before all work being carried out and agreed.
